The Effect of the Occupational Group Program on Physical function, Cognitive function, Activities of Daily Living and Quality of Life for Elderly

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study was to find effect of occupational group program on the physical function and quality of life of the elderly in nursing home.

Methods : The occupational group program was conducted in this study, 18 times for a total of 6 weeks for twenty elderly people. SFT, S-LICA, K-ADL, K-IADL, and SF-36-K were used as tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the group occupational therapy program.

Results : In this study, the evaluation results before and after application of the program were shown as follows. In SFT, all items except Back Stretching increased(p<.05), and in S-LICA, all items except Language increased(p<.05). Independence was improved in K-ADL(p<.05) and K-IADL (p<.05), and in SF-36-K, Physical Functioning, Bodily Pain, Role-Emotional, Physical factor, and Mental factor were improved(p<.05).

Conclusion : In this study, by applying the occupational group program, it was shown that the elderly's physical strength, cognitive function, independence in basic and instrumental daily life activities, and quality of life are likely to have positive effects when they are performed for 6 weeks.
